Introducing Oppla: a global platform for nature-based solutions aiming to revolutionise environmental knowledge

Oppla, a new open platform for nature-based solutions, launches on Tuesday 20th September as part of the Ecosystem Services Conference taking place in Antwerp, Belgium.

Oppla is a ‘one-stop-shop’ that aims to simplify how we share, obtain and create knowledge to better manage the environment. It is free to join, free to use and designed for people with diverse needs and interests — from science, policy and practice; public, private and voluntary sectors; organisations large and small, as well as individuals. All are welcome and have a part to play in its community.

Oppla offers unique services that help users to collaborate, innovate and communicate. The Oppla Marketplace is a ‘knowledge supermarket’: applying lessons learned from the commercial sector, such as eBay and Amazon, to improve the exchange of ‘products’ including software, data, documents, guidance, training, consultancy services and other useful resources. If you need help in your search for knowledge, Ask Oppla, a crowd-sourced enquiry service can find the answers – drawing upon the expertise and experience of Oppla’s growing community (approaching 1000 individuals even before the official launch).

Oppla also brings together the latest thinking on natural capital and ecosystem services through its community matchmaking service. This is an easy-to-use system for networking with other members of the Oppla community. Users can ‘Find My Match’ or search for potential new clients and partners using a sophisticated keyword system. In addition, Oppla hosts an ongoing programme of webinars, discussing a wide range of topics.
